As we all know, TikTok has exploded over the past couple years
and is arguably the most used and recognized social media platform across the
world. A lot has to go right to get the level of recognition and success that
TikTok has, but one thing they do exceptionally well is marketing. The
marketing department at TikTok has been nothing short of amazing, with reports
saying that 47% of its users have purchased something they saw on the platform.
With how many people use TikTok on a normal basis, that statistic is extremely
impressive.
A study conducted by TikTok also found that 72% of TikTok
advertisements are perceived as inspiring, the highest across all social media
platforms tested. TikTok also has their own ad formats, one being branded
hashtag challenges. These challenges and their other ad formats and designs are
considered 21% more trendsetting than other platforms ads. These innovative decisions
by TikTok are what separate their marketing strategies and success from other social
media platforms.
Some other interesting statistics are that 80% of people
consider TikTok ads more enjoyable. I think this is a result of the capabilities
to create intriguing videos. Another statistic I find interesting would be that
67% of people say TikTok ads get their attention, compared to 60% across other
platforms. A 7% increase may not seem very big or noticeable, but if you consider
the amount of people using social media on a regular basis, that percentage difference
becomes more impressive. Lastly, TikTok gets a well deserved 10% higher ad
receptivity in comparison to other platforms.
In
conclusion, TikTok has a great marketing department and strategy. Once a small Chinese
platform is now a worldwide social media superpower. I would be curious to see
if a separate social media platform ever surpasses TikTok and their success.
